A call with music, or they ask you to dial *21

Two very common phone tricks. In one you hear music or silence and they hang up: calling back can cost you. In the other they pretend to be the bank and dictate a *21 code: that forwards your calls to them.
The call with music, or that hangs up
The phone rings. You answer and hear music, an empty voicemail or nothing, and they hang up. Sometimes they call several times. They want you to call back a premium or international number. Do not. If you are worried, look the number up, do not dial it.
They ask you to dial *21
Someone claims to be the bank, the phone company or «security». They ask you to dial a code starting with *21, then a number and a hash. That code turns on call forwarding. From then on, the bank's verification calls go to them, not to you. No bank asks you to dial codes.
What to do
Hang up. Do not dial anything they dictate. If you already did, dial ##002# and call: that cancels forwarding. Then call your bank on the number on the card, not the one they gave you. Check forwarding with *#21#.
The rule
No one you trust asks you to dial a code on the phone. Not the bank, not the police, not the company. If they ask, it is a scam. 017 INCIBE or hola@safe.madrid.
