Do not bank on open Wi-Fi
At Barajas, a mall or a café, an open network can belong to a scammer. Do not open the bank, do not type the card, and do not install anything just to «get online».
How to spot it
The name copies the place (AENA, the mall, the café) but does not use the password posted in the room.
The portal asks for a card, ID or a certificate to connect.
They ask you to install an app or a profile outside the official store.
- Open network, or a password read over a loudspeaker.
- A login page that is not your bank.
- Hurry: «accept or you get no internet».
What to do
Use mobile data for the bank, email and card.
If you already typed data, call your bank and 017. Change the password on mobile data, not on that network.
Type the address yourself (.es, .gob.es) or open the app you already installed.
- Do not tap the SMS link that arrives right after.
- Never read out a 6-digit code.
