Sextortion: do not pay

An email or WhatsApp arrives: «we have a video of you, pay in crypto or we send it to your contacts». It is almost always a lie. Paying does not stop it and confirms someone is there.
How to spot it
They threaten with a video they do not show, or a blurry still.
They want crypto, gift cards or Bizum «within hours».
The sender is not a real contact. Sometimes they use an old leaked password to scare you.
- Hurry and shame: they want you to act alone.
- A link to a site or a file. Do not open it.
- Even if a video really exists, do not pay: the police have a protocol.
What to do
Do not pay. Do not reply. Do not open the link or the file.
Change passwords from another device, on mobile data. Turn on two-factor.
Report at denuncias.policia.es or a police station. 017 INCIBE will guide you. If a minor is involved, say so.
- Keep the message (screenshot) for the report.
- If you are under 18, tell a trusted adult.
- hola@safe.madrid — no photos, no passwords.
